Guardian of Water (Queen of Cups): Gaian Tarot Card of the Week

Hmmm . . . two Guardians (or Queens) two weeks in a row.  Don't you love it when patterns start to emerge?

For me, the Guardians represent a time in your life (either literally or metaphorically) when you are at midlfe, and are actively involved in your community.  You are a master of your chosen field, and you "guard" or protect the qualities and issues symbolized by the chosen suit or element.  In a life cycle, the Guardians represent the quality of fruition, which corresponds to a full or disseminating moon.

Last week the Guardian of Earth helped us to get grounded.  This week the Guardian of Water invites us to open our hearts to our dreams and visions, to compassion and to deep love.  "Pour it out for me," goes her siren song.   These are Kwan Yin's waters of mercy, poured out upon a troubled world.

This is one of my favorite images, at least in part because She represents the Ocean Mother to me.  She is that epiphany of the Goddess to whom I am most bonded.  And so, this week, I will listen for her voice in my dreams, in my intuitive hunches, in the cards, and in the sound of the waves lapping on the shore.

She is one of my favorite images as well and She came up in the reading you gave me last year. She touched me so deeply I bought the print.

When I look at the image I feel I am being invited to explore the depths of my soul. It is rather scary because we can't see what lies beneath the surface. The Guardian of Water is there to help us and assure us that nothing will happen to us. We will be safe with her. She invites us to explore ourselves knowing we will be encircled in her care.

It's a lovely cleansing piece and fits my state of mind right now! Compassion is so very much needed these days as I think love is far more powerful than hate. And for me, this image has tremendous strength about it in a non-forceful way.

You may think this is funny... but in visiting tropical countries, I am actually a little afraid of the fish - even if they're not very big -

So to me she says... "Don't be afraid of the fish." and invites me to enter the waters, trusting that they will be warm and welcoming, and the sand will be comfortable beneath my feet. And the fish represent thoughts or knowings in my subconscious, that I no longer need to be afraid of and can swim among comfortably.

I get a message of "get wet. dive back in to Me" from her. This is very important in my life right now. And this is one of my favorite images from this deck, Joanna. Truly inviting to this Pisces.

For me she says, "Take time for yourself." This past week I was doing what other people needed, nurturing them - holding meetings, completing projects, and worrying about what the outside world needed of me. Now it's my turn, and I should focus on what I need. In summer, I like to do that by floating on the surface of the pool by myself and letting my thoughts - as well as my body! - float where they like. :) Can't do that right now, but the same feeling is there! It's a time to take care of myself.

I feel like she is saying "It's time to dive into life." And she will be watching over me whatever happens. She is so beautiful to me as well.

I love the act of her pouring the water back in, I see it as a giving and receiving.

I focused immediately on the elder turtle in the foreground, swimming against the school of young fish. Combined with the beautiful Ocean Goddess, it tells me that all abundance is available to everyone: those who swim along with others, and the ones with ancient knowledge who seem to go in the opposite (sometimes thought of as "wrong") direction.

This card is teeming with life and creation. We are all a part of it.

She says to me it's time for this mermaid to make a sojourn to the waters edge, to breath in deep the salt scent of low tide...to watch her relentless kisses of the shore and as sun warms my face and salt fills my nose, ask her, what do I need to know? Of course, I will wait until she gifts my bit of sea glass to before I can leave. What a great inspiration to get moving to the waters edge, right now!
