Gaian Tarot Publishing News

I have the signed contract in hand . . . so I can finally let you all know.  The Gaian Tarot deck and book will be published by Llewellyn Worldwide in the spring of 2012!

Yes, I know it seems like a long way off, but Llewellyn's publishing schedule is already set for 2010 and 2011.  Crazy, huh?  But this gives me a year to finish  the last four cards, the companion book, and to rework some of the artwork on cards that could be better.  I doubt I will ever do another complete Tarot deck, so I'd like this one to represent my best work.

There are many people to thank — and you all know who you are — but right now I'd like to especially thank Barbara Moore for presenting my proposal to the folks at Llewellyn.  Yay Barbara!

I may be releasing a collector's edition of the 78-card deck before the Llewellyn version is published (and thanks to Llewellyn for allowing this).  If I do, I will use a professional green printer and go deluxe all the way.  I will have to figure out if I can afford to publish an edition of say, 200.  It will be expensive to produce and therefore to sell.  It would be helpful to me to know how many of you might be interested in buying one.  The price could go as high as $200.00.  Yes, not a consumer edition, I know.  (It would include the full deck, a booklet, a beautiful bag and some extra added goodies.)

I don't think $200 is that high for a limited edition deck from the artist that includes a bunch of extra stuff.
For example... look at Ciro Marchetti's deck. They are more than that. And he has NO trouble selling them.
Maybe a spread cloth, personalized card in some way, painted storage box, and the cards being bigger than "standard" are some suggestions for the limited edition.
So happy your deck is getting published. Odd how it is so far out... I would think they could do better.

This is excellent news! Talk about preparing for a new cycle--it must feel great knowing that all of your soulful efforts have finally paid off and now you just need to finish things up. 2012 is not all that far away and hopefully it will be a propitious pub list to be on. Knowing how long and hard you've worked on your masterful images, this deck will continue to have an incredible following in the years to come. Regarding pub date-deck releases are spread out and basically have to "wait their turn" in the quere (i.e. my fairy tale deck has been finished since last Spring but won't be released until next year). It can be frustrating, but your beautiful deck will be worth the wait. Hugs, Lisa
