A Reading for the Full Moon in Sagittarius

Happy Full Moon in Sagittarius!  We are so close to Solstice, these energies of Full Moon / Full Sun are quite intoxicating.  I barely slept last night at all.  This morning I came up with a new Tarot spread to be used at each Full Moon.  (It would work for New Moons or HolyDays as well.) 

(BTW, Beth OwlsDaughter has a great post today about the astrological significance of this Full Moon.)

I noted the degree of this Full Moon (27.50 Sag, according to MoonCircles) and checked to see where it falls in my natal astrological chart.  It falls in my 8th house conjunct my natal Mercury.  My astrologer, Sheila Belanger, calls Mercury the Communicator or Messenger, and notes that its gifts and/or challenges are: "Receive and express data; Process information; Analyze and discern how to make whole; Be open to change."

So . . . I decided to ask the Tarot this question, and see what turned up in each of the five sacred directions:

How can I best use the energy of this Sagittarian Full Moon to bring me into deeper personal wisdom?

Amy's Gaian Reading

I had the privilege of reading for a few people at the Readers Studio with my Gaian deck-in-progress.  One of those people was Amy Lamash who does the Tarot Calendar.

Amy wrote to me and mentioned that she started going out to sit by the river after work since coming home from the RS, which is one of the ideas that came to her from her Wisdom Self through the reading.  I was so pleased to hear that!  One of the intentions I set with the Gaian deck when I first envisoned it was that I wanted to inspire people to get out and spend more time in Nature, learning directly from Her rather than just from the metaphors, symbols and images of Nature.   And here Amy is doing it.    Blessed be!

Tarot Reading: Making a Decision

(Warning:  long post) I thought I'd start a new blog feature of sharing Tarot readings that I've done. It'll be a good learning tool for all of us readers out there. As I've mentioned before, I don't consider myself to be psychic and my style of Tarot reading is not predictive.  I'm not adverse to a little forecasting, however, as long as we all understand that our own actions and intentions heavily influence the outcome of any situation.

Those of you who read Lunaea's blog know that she is on a quest for a new home.  She lives in a rented house in the woods outside of Santa Cruz, CA but her landlords want to sell it.  She spied an online listing for a house in Watsonville, some miles to the south of Santa Cruz, and thought she might rent it before she gets her final "walking papers" from her landlords.   She asked me to do a reading for her, to help clarify her choices.  She gave me kind permission to reproduce our email exchange here.

I'm sharing this reading because I think it's a great example of how Tarot readings should work.  Successful readings points out issues that we would otherwise overlook, and help us set our intention and take action toward creating the life situation that we want.  (It also helps that Lunaea herself is an experienced Tarot reader.)
