(My friend and mermaid sister Debra Strom created this spread based on the Gaian Canoe card and shared it with the members of the Gaian Tarot Circle. She says: "I was so inspired by Carolyn Cushing's Five Green Allies Spread that I created a spread from Canoe card. I though, 'Hummm, that could be fun to do!', and the Canoe card flashed into my mind. Enjoy trying out this spread when you are uncertain of the next steps in your journey, or you can't see how you can ever reach your destination."
Card 1 - The Eagle's view:
What is the big picture? What inspires me? What makes the journey worth it?
Card 2 - The Salmon's gift:
What wisdom, deep knowledge or truth supports me on my journey?
Card 3 - The first Orca:
What slows me down? What barriers must I overcome to reach my destination? What am I clinging to in my past that hinders me? What am I afraid of?
Card 4 - The second Orca:
What causes me to rush? What lesson will I miss if I hurry too fast? What opportunity am I limiting with too narrow a focus?
Card 5 - The Paddler:
What must I do to glide forward effortlessly into my right and perfect future? What allows me to reach my destination with ease and joy?
Card 1: Temperance: What inspires me is art; and the creation of it…in many forms: dance, music, writing, tarot reading (!) The act of creating is what makes the journey worth it. I have recently hired a life coach and am creating a new me.
Card 2: The 2 of Water: What sustains me are my relationships. My daughter, husband, and my dearest and cherished friends. No matter where I am going, they are in my boat rowing along with me.
Card 3: 7 of Fire (reversed): What has been holding me back has been the need to do things right; to meet the expectations of others; not listening to my inner wisdom that has been dying to get out and create a wonderful life for me.
Card 4: 4 of Water (reversed): I have been rushing and "making things happen–NOT!" The hurrieder I go, the behinder I get. I have not taken the time to sit quietly and listen to the yearnings of my soul; not sat quietly letting Mama Gaia renew my heart and calm my mind. To get where I am meant to be; I must BE; not just DO.
Card 5: Guardian of Air (reversed): To move forward effortlessly, I must be crystal clear about my limitations and talents; and live my life with purposeful intention. I embrace the affirmation from Joanna's book–"I declare my own truth with candor and clarity."
Thanks Deb!
oh this is a wonderful spread! Thank you so much for sharing!
