What do I most need to consider this coming week?
The Child seems to me to be looking at a prize of great value — he is fascinated by it and yet somewhat befuddled by it. It is a treasure, a “pearl of great price.”
What is my pearl of great price this week?
I feel like I am pregnant with many plans and ideas that will lay the groundwork for the next decade of my life. Almost all of it is centered around the Gaian Tarot, or connected to it in some way.
A reader sent send this email to me a couple of days ago:
“I love your Gaian Tarot. I can't tell you how down to earth in its simplicity the messages flow to me. You have created a masterpiece by following your own bliss and interests that are the aspects of the Divine that shine through you and your life.”
During the years I was creating the deck, I just followed my heart and my Muse and my Mama Ocean. I didn’t think about what might sell, or what the market might be for such a project. Now that accolades and notes of appreciation are flooding in, I am a little bit overwhelmed and even surprised. I scratch my head and say to myself, “Gee, all I did was follow my heart. . .”
As I continue to gaze at the apple in the Child’s hands, it begins to glow. And I muse on the Apple, that magical fruit of life and death and rebirth, with its five pointed star hidden within. I wonder what I need to release, to allow to die, in order for new life to flourish.
Then I read the card description from the Gaian Tarot companion book, and I just have to chuckle. Yes, I have been having conversations with myself and friends about how I need to get back to spending more time communing with the Earth, starting a secret spot routine again, and moving my body more. How I feel off-center when I don’t do those things. “I find my center by connecting to my body and the natural world.” Oh my, yes!
When you get this card in a reading . . .
The Child of Earth is fascinated by the natural world and is learning new ways to connect with it. Perhaps he is learning to sit still at a “secret spot” and observe the changes from day to day and season to season. Or perhaps he’s decided to grow his own food. He may be concerned with health issues and is starting a new way of eating or a new exercise program. Or he may be learning how to take care of his money and other resources responsibly.
Affirmation
I find my center by connecting to my body and the natural world.
How about you, dear Reader? What does the Child of Earth say to you?
Here's a direct link to the fifth and final episode in my video series. In it, I show the creative process in one card, the 3 of Earth (this week's Card of the Week!), from inspiration to final artwork. (6 minutes) Enjoy!

Friendship! Hanging out with the sisters! Hey, I can do that! :-)
Besides spending time with soul sisters in person, I believe this also refers to the preliminary work I’m doing on creating GaianTarotCircle.com - a Membership Community. I sent out a survey last week to some of the folks who recently purchased an LE deck, asking for feedback and ideas for the site. There’s lots of enthusiasm and fabulous ideas brewing. I’ll let you know more when I know more.
Here’s what I wrote in the Gaian Tarot companion book about this card:

You are gathering in community with others to create something of lasting value. When we work together cooperatively, the final product is one of synergy — it is more than each of its separate parts. The pleasure we take in each other’s company finds its way into the medicine we are creating. What wonderful gifts are you and your friends making for your community?
Here's a direct link to the fourth episode in my video series. In it, I show you how one of the numbers, the 4, is expressed in each of the elemental suits. (7 minutes) Enjoy!

Heh heh. And they say he drove the snakes out of Ireland. (Just realized today is St Patrick's Day.)
Here's a direct link to the third episode in my video series. It's a look at the elemental suits, number system and People (Court) cards of the Minor Arcana. I explain the "three sets of three mini-dramas" number system that I learned from Teresa Michelsen, and take a look at how my People cards vary in title and gender from more traditional court cards. (8 minutes) Enjoy!

Whoa! We just turned up the Explorer of Water two weeks ago. I just love it when cards start recurring, as we know there’s some kind of extra wisdom for us there. I would say that I am still learning to ride the waves of what comes my way with skill and grace. Practice, practice, practice. :-) And remember to breathe.
Here’s what I wrote in the Gaian Tarot companion book:

This is joy that comes from within, and is not dependent on outer circumstances. The Explorer of Water is romantic and charming, and others are drawn to the deep well of peace inside him. He loves yoga, meditation and any of the mystical arts. He expresses his deep feelings and spirituality through art, music, or dance. He flows with great compassion for others, and imagines things as they could be: “You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. . .”
How about you, dear Reader? What does the Explorer of Water say to you?
