Midsummer Morning

First the Old Moon rose.

Moonrise

And then the Sun.

Sunrise1

Sunrise2a

Eagles flew low above us.

Clams squirted.
Herons stood serenely in the shallows.

We offered herbs and flowers from our gardens to the Queen of Summer.
She took our prayers and carried them north on the outgoing tide.

We offered our hearts.
She took those, too.

We dined on the first local strawberries of the season in Her first light.
We found deer tracks in the sand, white stones, and baby eagle feathers.

We stood, enraptured by Her beauty.

When we had each found our beach glass, glinting amid stones dipped in gold dust, and the first ferry of the morning was heading east into the sunrise, it was time to go.

Farewell to the east side of the island.  We'll meet again at sunset on the west.

This is magnificent, Joanna, and thank you for it this sunny Solstice morning. We too are savouring the first strawberries of the season, and there will be a festive meal this evening. Blessed be!

What a beautiful morning you had there, it sounds like it was the center of peace and joy...

Thanks for sharing this pictures! Sounds like a lovely morning!

Wonderful from start to finish, text and images. How blessed you are to be able to drink in and be inspired by such beauty.

Sorry I haven't been round for a while. Life has been busy and is full of sorrow right now as I've suffered bereavement - the death of my 19-year-old tabby cat and long-time best friend and confidante in this world. I can't bring myself to write new blog entries on my own space at the moment and so am wandering my blogroll to see how my friends in virtual space are doing... x

Just so achingly lovely Joanna. Blessings of the Solstice to you.

I love you Sweetie! This post is one of your finest, most beautiful expressions of the magic of our Island. The photos are lovely! Your words are well-chosen, haunting and they remind me how fortunate we are to live here, in this most magical place.

I love you very much. Mwaahh!

Craig
